Home Computing – A very old journey – Episode 1

Home Computer & Computer Science are actually my oldest passion. And actually, I am still in there.

In this 1st post about Home Computer, I will speak my first experience , at the beginning of the 80s’ with a… ZX81!

My journey began in 1981, when I convinced my parents to buy a Sinclair ZX-81, one of the most simple and affordable Home Computer ever sold.

Yeah! 1 KB of RAM, a real keyboard, a black and white screen, powered by a 3.5 MHz beast: the famous Zilog Z80 A. Of course, I quickly expanded the memory with an incredible memory extension of 16 KB.

I started to discover Basic language and assembly programming… And some unforgettable games. Ah, the great sound of program loading, with the tapes and a speed of 300 bytes/Sec…

This 1st experience ended in 1984, with a second famous Home Computer: the Amstrad CPC 464… The next episode.
